State Minister of Finance Eran Wickremaratne resigned from his ministerial portfolio.

Over 10 ministers and deputy ministers have resigned from their posts following the UNP's defeat at the Presidential election.

Meanwhile, top BOI official Mangala Yapa also resigned from his position "on his own volition." He worked closely with Malik Samarawickrema, one of the first ministers to resign from the government following the election defeat.

"I resigned on my own volition. BOI Chairmanship (& the Board) is appointed by the President in terms of Act. Felt that I should leave, enabling the newly elected President to have a team that he wish to have," Yapa tweeted.
