Parliament will convene today at 11.30 AM for the final time before the Presidential election.

The Speaker's Office said Parliament would be convened at the request of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The session is expected to end at 2.30 PM.

Speculation is also rife that President Sirisena will prorogue Parliament before the Presidential election.

Informed political sources said the prorogation would allow the new President to ceremonially open the next session of Parliament.
