Former Chief Minister of te Northern Province C.V. Wigneswaran expressed doubts over the election manifesto of New Democratic Front candidate Sajith Premadasa.
Speaking in Jaffna, Wigneswaran said Premadasa's manifesto was silent on critical issues such as the Federal solution and merger of the North and East provinces.
Wigneswaran also added that the manifesto presents contradictory views on the unitary status of the country. "In Sinhala, it talks about a unitary country while in the English version of the manifesto, it highlights the word 'unity'. We all know that unity and unitary are two different words with different meanings," the former Chief Minister said.
"No one calls the United National Party the 'Unitary National Party'," he explained.
Wigneswaran added that none of the candidates had agreed with the 13 conditions presented by Tamil parties.
