Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga today officially pledged her support to New Democratic Front Presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa.

The former President today signed an MOU with Premadasa and the UNP. The event was attended by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the party leaders supporting Premadasa's presidential campaign.

Speaking to Asian Mirror, a UNP spokesman expressed confidence that a sizable proportion of SLFP activists in villages would join hands with Premadasa's campaign.

He said all of them perceived the Rajapaksas as their common enemy.

President Maithripala Sirisena, however, has so far remained mum on where he stands when it comes to the Presidential election.
