An agreement between the UNP and former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga will be signed today.

Kumaratunga, a Patron of the party, has expressed vehement opposition to the SLFP's decision to support SLPP candidate Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.

Sources close to Kumaratunga said a number of SLFP seniors would pledge support to NDF candidate Sajith Premadasa's campaign following the signing of the agreement.

It is not immediately clear whether SLFP stalwart Kumara Welgama will pledge support to the NDF.
