SLPP today accused NDF Presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa of proposing benefits that are deemed "unsuitable" for women.
Addressing a press conference in Colombo today, SLPP stalwart Susil Premajayantha said Sri Lankan women always maintained their dignity and Premadasa's promises have challenged their values.
Premajayantha was referring to Premadasa's promise of providing women with sanitary products free of charge.
He said such election pledges would not be welcomed by Sri Lankan women who possessed higher education levels when compared to other countries.
Addressing the same press conference, SLPP member Pavithra Wanniarachchi said Premadasa would force women to stand in queues at cooperative societies to obtain sanitary products.
