National Languages and Social Integration Minister Mano Ganesan says he has instructed Official Languages Commission to intervene in the Peppermint Cafe incident.

The Minister, in a Twitter post, warned that the cafe may have to face legal action for violating Fundamental Right to Equality in Constitution by instructing staff not to speak in Tamil.

The cafe came under fire on social media platforms when it instructed staff not to speak in Tamil

The management later said such instructions were given to the staff as several customers had complained that some workers used Tamil in the presence of non-Tamil speaking customers.
