Former Minister A.H.M. Fowzie has lodged a complaint with the Police headquarters against Hiru TV station over distorting and misinterpreting a part of his speech.

The TV station aired a clip claiming that the former Minister called for the assassination of SLPP Presidential candidate Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.

Fowzie vehemently stated that the TV station erroneously reported his speech and he never made such a remark. Audio clips of the speech also confirmed the Minister's version of the story.

In his complaint, the former Minister has stated that the erroneous report has tarnished his reputation as a senior politician.
