Former Army Commander and National People's Party Presidential candidate Mahesh Senanayake said Sri Lanka should be salvaged from "plunderers" to think of a better future for the country.
Addressing the launch of the election manifesto of the party, Senanayake said it was his responsibility to step in at this critical juncture to save the country.
Senanayake said he discharged himself from the hospital to attend the launch of his election manifesto.
The former Army Commander was admitted to the Balangoda Base Hospital when he was campaigning in the area.
He was later transferred to the Army Hospital in Colombo.
