New Democratic Front Presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa has challened his SLPP counterpart Gotabhaya Rajapaksa for an open debate before the Presidential election.

"I challenge @GotabayaR to face me 1:1 on live TV so voters can watch us fearlessly pit our policies and visions against each other. A strong candidate need not be afraid to engage with their opponent in an unscripted exchange of ideas. SP #PresPoll2019," Premadasa tweeted this morning.

Rajapaksa shoed away from the public debate held earlier this month at the Sugathadasa Indoor stadium where Presidential candidates laid out their plans before the public.

Commenting on the matter later, Rajapaksa said he did not want to be pitted against 10 candidates who had different viewpoints.

This time, Premadasa has invited Rajapaksa for a one-on-one debate in order to allow voters to make an informed decision before the election.
