The United National Party convention today ratified the Working Committee's decision to nominate Sajith Premadasa as the party's Presidential candidate.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe sought the approval of party members for the decision and they unanimously endorsed it.

Premadasa's mother, Hema Premadasa also shared the stage with Wickremesinghe when the announcement was made.

The party also adopted several resolutions including a motion to pursue further reforms strengthening democratic governance.

The event was attended by a large number of UNP activists and supporters.
