UPFA Parliamentarian Kumara Welgama is likely to run for the presidency under the 'Organization to Protect the SLFP'.

Informed political sources said Welgama wuld make a cash deposit today at the Elections Secretariat.

A founding member of the SLPP, Welgama then returned to the SLFP, his former political camp, in protest of Gotabhaya Rajapaksa's candidacy.

Welgama maintained that the SLFP should field its own candidate for the Presidential election.
