UNP Presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa and JVP Presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake have both agreed to participate in an event organised by the March 12 Movement and AFRIEL.

However SLPP Presidential candidate Gotabhaya Rajapaksa is yet to confirm his attendance at the event that expects to facilitate a relationship between the people and the future president.

The joint event is called ‘Presidential Election 2019 —Public Platform’ and intends to bring the top candidates to one platform to pose them a number of pre-selected questions.

Ravindra De Silva, Executive Director AFRIEL, said a special committee was established within the March 12 Movement and in conjunction with AFRIEL to select the candidates and the questions.

The questions will cover a wide range of topics, from economics, to national security and women’s rights and representation and be telecast live on all TV channels, on October 5, between 4-6 PM.
