President Maithripala Sirisena has convened a special Cabinet meeting at 6 PM today at the Presidential Secretariat.
Informed government sources said the meeting was convened to discuss solutions to the current trade union actions in the state sector.
Railway workers, SLAS officers, teachers, and several other unions have launched trade union actions over a number of demands.
The spate of trade unions has been launched in the run-up to a crucial Presidential election slated for mid-November.
