The Sri Lanka Podujana Permun will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with 19 political parties on October 05.

Among them are parties that already have representation in Parliament, a senior SLPP Spokesman said.

He added that all of them would extend support to SLPP Presidential candidate Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and campaign for his victory.

When asked whether the SLFP is one of the 19 parties which the SLPP is seeking an alliance with, the spokesman refused to comment.

However, when contacted by us, an SLFP MP said his party would only sign a separate alliance agreement with the SLPP if they decided to form an alliance.

"No final decision has been made so far, " the Parliamentarian said.
