United National Party seniors unanimously agreed to nominate Minister Sajith Premadasa as the party's Presidential candidate following a meeting at Temple Trees, a short while ago.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Minister Sajith Premadasa, UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, National Organizer Navin Dissanayake, Minister Rajith Senaratne and Kabir Hashim were among those who attended the meeting.

Speaking to Asian Mirror, a minister who attended the discussion said the decision would be ratified by the party Working Committee meeting at 3 PM today.

The Working Committee meeting will take place at Sirikotha, the UNP headquarters.

The minister said the atmosphere at the meeting was "warm and cordial".
