Former UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake has expressed interest to rejoin the Sajith Premadasa camp.
Attanayake crossed over to the UPFA, led by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, just weeks before the last Presidential election.
After the election, he was prosecuted for forging documents as he publicized an allegedly fake document to prove that the UNP had entered into a secret alliance with the TNA.
Attanayake today responded to an invitation extended by Premadasa to rejoin the party and support their campaign for the Presidential election.
The former UNP candidate, in his letter, said he joined the Rajapaksa camp five years ago, as he could not agree with the party's decision to field an "outsider" as the presidential candidate.
Attanayake said with Premadasa's emergence, the UNP had the rare opportunity of working towards the victory of one of its own members at a presidential election.
