Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa said Solicitor General Dilsrukhi Dias Wickremasinghe must reveal the Ministers who directed her to file legal actions against former Defence Secretary Gotabhay Rajapaksa.
Speaking to media in Colombo, Rajapaksa said it was clear that the Bribery Commission launched a political witch-hunt against the former Defence Secretary.
An alleged audiotape containing a telephone conversation between former Director General of the Bribery Commission Dilrukshi Dias Wickremasinghe and Avant-Garde Chairman Nissanka Senadhipathy was circulated widely on social media. Although the authenticity of the audio has been confirmed, Wickremasinghe said the conversation has been "distorted" and "doctored".
In that audio, Wickremasinghe says she was forced to take action against Avant-Garde company due to "dirty politics."
Issuing a statement subsequently, Wickremasinghe also revealed that it was a Cabinet minister of the current government who connected her with the Avant-Garde Chairman via telephone.
The Solicitor General also challenged Senadhipathy to reveal the full audiotape of the conversation.
