UNP Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa yesterday testified before the Presidential Commission probing corruption between 2015 and 2018over alleged irregularities at the Nationa Housing Authority.

The Minister was summoned before the commission to record a statement on allegedly misappropriating government funds to pay salaries or Housing Authority employees who were recruited outside the approved carder.

Premadasa said his institution was committed to providing shelter to all citizens in the country by 2025.

The workers of the authority, Premadasa said, render a remarkable service to strengthen the development of the country. He said they were responsible for carrying out development projects worth Rs. 3500 million.

The Minister said he did not violate any government regulation when giving instructions to the National Housing Authority.
