Conflicting reports have surfaced on where the majority of UNF party leaders stand on the issue of Presidential candidacy in the UNP.

"Ministers Patali, Mano Ganeshan, Digambaram, Rishad, & Rauff Hakeem confirmed to the UNP Parliamentary group that they will support Sajith Premadasa as the UNP Presidential candidate," Minister Harin Fernando, a supporter of the Premadasa group, tweeted.

However, this remark was contradicted by a party stalwart supporting Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

He said only two party leaders have expressed support for Premadasa while other remains supportive of Speaker Karu Jayasuriya, the candidate supported by the Prime Minister.

However, a party leaders meeting of the United National Front is currently underway.
