A meeting that was scheduled to take place between Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and UNP Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa today has been postponed to Tuesday.
The meeting has been postponed at the request of Minister Premadasa's group, our sources from Temple Trees confirmed. The reason for the last-minute postponement is not entirely clear.
The discussion was arranged by UNP seniors as an attempt at breaking the current deadlock on the party's presidential candidacy. Both Wickremesinghe and Premadasa have expressed their intentions to run for the Presidency on the UNP ticket later this year.
However, Minister Premadasa, who sought the postponement, was seen attending several public events in Lunugamwehera this morning.
