Parliament was adjourned till September 17 as the large majority of ruling party MPs were not present in the House to attend the proceedings.
As a result, Parliament could not continue proceedings as planned.
This happened a day after the Speaker was forced to adjourn proceedings as Cabinet ministers were not present to answer 15 questions raised by opposition MPs.
JVP Parliamentarian Bimal Ratnayake said yesterday was a "black day" in Sri Lanka's parliamentary history.
"MPs have raised 15 questions(mentioned in the order paper) from the Government and there were no single minister to answer any of these questions," Ratnayake said.
