The Sri Lanka Freedom Party has asked five national list MPs who recently defected from the party to show cause within seven days, General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekera said.

He added served letters on disciplinary action against five national list MPs who are now supporting other political parties.

S.B. Dissanayake, Dilan Perera, Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena, Vijith Wijayamuni Soysa and A.H.M. Fowsie are the five national list MPs of the SLFP who are currently facing disciplinary actio

All of them, except Fowzie, failed to secure their seats at the Parliamentary election in 2015.

The move comes a day after the 68th convention of the SLFP which took place under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.
