President Maithripala Sirisena said papers are being prepared to prosecute higher echelons than former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran over the Treasury Bonds issue.
Addressing the 68th anniversary of the SLFP, Sirisena said all documents are prepared to enable the extradition of Mahendran.
"The Bonds scam was the government's biggest curse. Those who were responsible for this scam are now talking about the Presidential election," Sirisena said.
He also added Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe must be primarily held responsible for the delayed Provincial Council elections.
The President said the SLP FP had a responsibility to ensure a clean political culture in Sri Lanka.
