The 68th anniversary event of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party began a short while ago, under the auspices of President Maithripala Sirisena

SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekera said President Sirisena would make a special announcement at the convention.

Leaders of several other political parties have also been invited for the meeting. Joint Opposition party leaders Dinesh Gunawardena, Udaya Gammanpila and Vasudewa Nanayakkara were also seen attending the convention.

All MPs representing the SLFP were present at the event. The party said it did not invite SLFP MPs who joined the SLPP for the anniversay celebration.
