Former Editor of the Divaina newspaper Meriil Perera has passed away.

Perera, a senior journalist, was admitted to the Colombo National Hopsital recently, due to a prolonged illness.

He has worked at Dinamina, Janatha and Dawasa newspapers. Perera started his newspaper career in 1965 as a trainee journalist at the Lake House group.

Perera retired from the Divaina newspaper several years ago. He has also authored several books including 'Ayubowan Armour Veediya, Paththara Rassawa and Athirasa.
