Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera had hosted a dinner for all MPs supporting UNP Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa's presidential bid.

The dinner had taken place at Samaraweera's personal residence. At the meeting, the group had discussed the way forward and their future plans, a source familiar with the discussion told Asian Mirror.

They have also agreed to hold another rally in support of Premadasa in Kurunegala. The rally will take place in Kurunegala on September 05.

The discussion took place against the backdrop of disciplinary action initiate by the UNP against Ajith P. Perera and Sujeewa Senasinghe for violating party discipline.
