UNP Chairman Kabir Hashim threw his weight behind Ministers Ajith P. Perera and Sujeewa Senasinghe who are currently facing disciplinary action.

UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has formally informed both Ministers that they have violated party discipline and has asked them to show cause.

Addressing a press briefing in Colombo, Hashim said he did not believe that the two members had acted in violation of party discipline.

'I don't think they have committed an offence. Asking them to show cause following a written complaint received by the General Secretary is nothing extra-ordinary," Hashim said.
