State Minister Dilip Wedaarachchi threatened to surround Colombo if the UNP failed to nominate Sajith Premadasa as the Presidential candidate of the party.
Addressing an event in Tangalle, Wedaarachchi said hundreds of thousands of supporters are ready to surround the country's capital to ensure that Premadasa becomes the Presidential candidate of the UNP.
"After 25 years, we now have the opportunity to get a President elected from the UNP, " Wedaarachhci, a strong supporter of Premadasa, said.
He described Premadasa as a man who is not tainted with bribery and corruption.
He urged Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to pay heed to the demands of the large majority of party supporters.
