UNP MP Chandima Gamage today denied statements made by his own party colleagues that a letter was handed over to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday requesting to summon the Working Committee and the parliamentary group to make a final decision on the UNP Presidential candidate.
Addressing a press conference at Temple Trees today, Gamage said he was present at the parliamentary group meeting yesterday and no one handed over a letter to the Prime Minister.
"From what I saw, no one handed over such a letter. I was there until the very end of the meeting," Gamage said.
Speaking to the media yesterday, Minister Ranjith Maddumabandara said he and Minister Kabir Hashim handed over the letter to the Prime Minister at Temple Trees earlier today.
