UNP backbenchers will meet party Deputy Leader and Presidential aspirant Sajith Premadasa for a special meeting tonight, informed political sources said.

The discussion will take place at the residence of State Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe at 8.30 PM.

The move comes amidst a heated power struggle within the party over its presidential candidate for the next election.

Premadasa supporters say a large majority of UNP backbenchers support Sajith Premadasa's bid to become the Presidential candidate.
