A group of UNP MPs have signed a letter requesting Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to convene the parliamentary group and the Working Committee together to make a final decision on the party's Presidential candidate.

Ministers Kabir Hashim and Ranjith Madduma Bandara have handed over the letter to the Prime Minister at Temple Trees earlier today.

It is learnt that 55 members have signed the letter. Speaking to the media after handing over the letter, Madduma Bandara said the Prime Minister responded to their request positively and promised to take appropriate action soon.

Several UNP MPs expressed confidence that a crucial decision with regard to the party's presidential candidacy would be made on Wednesday.
