The JVP-led Movement for People's Power today announced JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake as their Presidential candidate for the next election.

The announcement was made at a massive rally held at the Galle Face Green this afternoon.

Anura Dissanayake is the JVP's Presidential candidate after 20 years. The last they fielded a Presidential candidate was in 1999 when Nandana Gunathilaka was named the party's Presidential candidate.

Addressing the rally, Dissanayake said it was up to the people to decide whether to take the path of antiquated bi-partisan politics or the path of freedom and prosperity.

The JVP Leader also told his cheering supporters that he would conclude his Presidential campaign with victory.
