UNP's Presidential aspirant Minister Sajith Premadasa today inaugurated a model village by the name of 'Sadaa pujitha Aravinda de Silva Gama' to honour former Sri Lankan cricketer Aravinda de Silva.
Premadasa came under fire over a farcical name he gave one of his model villages earlier this year. The village 'Sadaa loka poojitha Kumar Sangakkaragama' was named after former Sri Lanka cricket captain Kumar Sangakkara.
The name of the new village which bears a strong resemblance with the village named after Kumar Sangakkara has indicated that Premadasa has not learnt anything from the previous debacle.
However, former Sri Lankan cricketer Aravinda de Silva also attended the inauguration of the village, alongside Premadasa. The model village came under the' 'gam udawa' housing project launched by Premadasa as a continuation of his father former President Ranasinghe Premadasa's housing programme in the 1980s.
