A day after UNP Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa attended a rally in Badulla where he was projected as the party's Presidential candidate, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe held a meeting with the patrty's Local Government representatives of three district in a bid to consolidate his position before the election.

The meeting held at Temple Trees was attended by Local Government representatives in the Gampaha, Anuradhapura and Kandy districts.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Wickremesinghe discussed issues faced by them and expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious at the next Presidential election.

UNP Ministers Lakshman Kiriella, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Chandrani Bandara and MPs Kavinda Jayawardena and Mayantha Dissanayake attended the meeting.

Bandara was also present at Premadasa's meeting in Badulla last evening.
