The Special High Court today issued warrant to arrest former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran over the bond issue.
The High Court issued warrant when the Attorney General's Department informed the court that Mahendran had left the country after giving evidence before the Bond Commission.
The development took place a day after INTERPOL dismissed an appeal filed by Mahendran against the Sriminal Investigations Department's moves to arrest him.
The former Central Bank Governor said he was not fault when it came to the Treasury Bonds fiasco and the CID had framed charges against him.
Mahendran, who was at the helm of the Central Bank when the Treasury bonds fiasco unfolded, is currently in Singapore evading police arrest.
INTERPOL has already issued a red notice against Mahendran,a Singaporean citizen.
President Maithripala Sirisena told the Sri Lankan media last month that he had held discussions with the Singaporean government to ensure the extradition of Mahendran.
