Former Colombo Chief JMO Ananda Samarasekera was indicted by the Attorney General today over the murder of Rugby player Wasim Thajudeen.

Samarasekera was indicted for concealing evidence relating to the Thajudeen murder. Samarasekera was investigated by the CID over the missing body parts of the Rugby player who died under mysterious circumstances in May 2012.

Health Ministry Secretary Anura Jayawickrema had submitted a report to the Colombo Additional Magistrate said that Samarasekera was responsible for the missing body parts of Thajudee.

Jayawickrema said that the former JMO had acted in an irresponsible manner when conducting the first postmortem, and ruled the rugby player's death was caused by an accident. Even though the ex-JMO claimed that he had handed over the body parts to two minor staff to store in a freezer, both of them denied this.
