A tense situation has occured at Katiwapitiya, Negombo, as a shrine near the Katuwapitiya church has come under attack by an unidentified group last night.
The Katuwapitiya Church was a prime target of the Easter Sunday attacks and over 100 devotees who attended the service lost their lives on April 21.
Colombo Archbishop Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith and several catholic priests are currently at the location discussing the incident with the residents.
It is reported that the residents are demanding an "immediate solution" to the current situation, as they are feeling "unsafe".
