The National Police Commission approved the transfer of Kurunegala DIG Kithsiri Jayalath to Trincomalee. Jayalath drew criticism from many quarters for mishandling the investigation into Dr. Mohammed Shafi Shiyabdeen who was recently released on bail. Meanwhile, DIG Mahinda Dissanayake has also been transferred to Kilinochchi. Both trannsferred were recommended by Acting IGP Chandana Wickremaratne.
