The UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has said the party will announce its Presidential candidate once the election is announced.

He has told a vernacular newspaper the sole focus of the party at the moment is to form a borad political coalition with affiliated parites.

The UNP is set to sign an agreement with them on August 05.

However, it is learnt that the Presidential candidate of the UNP will be decided with the concurrence of all political parties in the coalition.

The party has already made it clear that four names are currently being considered for the Presidential candidacy.
