Power and Energy Minister Ravi Karunanayake today expressed confidence hat the government would be in a position to provide electricity to religious places free of charge within the next two to three months.
Speaking at a public event in Kataragama, Karunanayake added that this target would be achieved through the use of renewable energy.
The Minister added decisions made by politicians are not supported by state officials. "They have a different agenda and it is not easy to change this situation. But we are trying our best to handle this situation and deliver results against all odds."
"Although I am a non-Buddhist, I am committed to facilitating Buddhist temples to popularize the Buddhist teachings," he added.
