The Sri Lanka Podujana Party (SLPP) today officially said that the discussions with the SLFP are unsuccessful.
Addressing a press conference earlier today, SLPP member MP Arundika Fernando said the discussions with the SLFP have not produced desired results.
"A group including SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekera are working to detail the discussions, " Fernando said.
The SLFP, however, has so far expressed only positive sentiments about the ongoing discussions with the SLPP.
Several spokespersons of the SLFP have confirmed to the media that a common alliance will be formed with the SLPP to contest upcoming elections.
