Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said Parliament should take into account the CID report which cleared ACMC Leader Rishad Bathiudeen of all allegations relating to the Easter Sunday attacks.
Addressing a public event in Trincomalee, the Prime Minister said the large majority of allegations levelled against the ACMC Leader are unsubstantiated.
"No one has even offered to lodge formal complaints with regard to some allegations. Some are mere allegations that are yet to be proven with concrete evidence," the Prime Minister added. Wickremesinghe said Parliament must taken into account these developments when making a decision on Bathiudeen.
The Prime Minister's remarks come in the wake of reports that Muslim MPs who resigned from their ministerial positions last month are preparing to re-accept their positions.
Bathiudeen will also be among those who will be sworn in ministerial positions again.
