Elections Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya said an electronic voting system would be introduced for elections taking place after 2020. Deshapriya added that party leaders had agreed in principle to introduce an electronic voting system to Sri Lanka.

A party leaders meeting was held last week, under the patronage of Speaker Karu Jayasuriya, to discuss the matter.

However, the forthcoming Presidential election and the Provincial Council election will take place under the current manual system, the Elections Commission Chairman explained.
