The Attorney General is to file revision application in the Colombo High Court against the Colombo Chief Magistrate's decision to release former Defence Ministry Hemasiri Fernando and IGP Pujitha Jayasundara on bail.
who were arrested over the Easter Sunday explosions have been released on bail.
Both Fernando and Jayasundara were arrested over their alleged failure to act on intelligence reports indicating the possibility of an terorrist attack. When the case was taken up this morning, Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne said there was no sufficient evidence to charge the two suspects with murder.
Both officials were released on sureties of Rs. 500000 each.
Both of them were arrested by the Police while receiving treatment at government hospitals.
The Attorney General instructed the Acting IGP to name Fernando and Jayasundara as suspects in the case over Easter Sunday explosions.
