Former Defence Ministry Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and IGP Pujith Jayasundara who were arrested over the Easter Sunday explosions have been released on bail.
Both Fernando and Jayasundara were arrested over their alleged failure to act on intelligence reports indicating the possibility of an terorrist attack. When the case was taken up this morning, Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne said there was no sufficient evidence to charge the two suspects with murder.
Both of them were arrested while receiving treatment at government hospitals.
The Attorney General instructed the Acting IGP to name Fernando and Jayasundara as suspects in the case over Easter Sunday explosions.
