Former Defence Ministry Secretary Hemasiri Fernando was arrested by the CID while receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital, a short while ago.

Fernando was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Cardiology Unit at the Colombo National Hospital this morning.

Meanwhile, a team of CID officers also arrested IGP Pujith Jayasundara at the Police Hospital, Narahenpita.

Both Fernando and Jayasundara were expected before the CID this morning after te Attorney General instructed the Acting IGP to arrest the two former defence bigwigs.
