Former Defence Ministry Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and IGP Pujith Jayasundara have been summoned to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) tomorrow at 10 AM.
Police sources said there was a strong possibility that the two former defence bigwigs would be arrested tomorrow.
Attorney General Dappula de Livera has instructed Acting IGP Senior DIG C.D. Wickramaratne to name Jayasundara and Fernando as suspects in the Easter Sunday attack and produce them in court.
The Attorney General previously instructed the Acting IGP to initiate criminal action on Jayasundara and Fernando over their failure to avert the Easter Sunday explosions.
De Livera has also recommended disciplinary and criminal action against nine senior Police officers, including three DIGs, over the same matter.
Jayasundara has also filed a Fundamental Rights petition in the Supreme Court challenging the President's decision to send him on compulsory leave.
