UPFA Parliamentarian Kumara Welgama said he was ready to become the Presidential candidate of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
Speaking to a private TV station, Welgama said he would create a 'political tide' for himself, if he ran for the Presidency.
Welgama was recently removed as the SLPP District organizer for Badulla following his critical remarks on former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
Welgama then indicated that he would align himself with the SLFP saying he has always been a member of the grand old party.
He also attended a pirith ceremony at the SLFP headquarters in Colombo.
