The Marawila Magistrate has ordered the Wennappuwa Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman to allow venders of all ethnicities to do business at the Dankotuwa weekly pola.
The Wennappuwa Pradeshita Sabha Chairman recently came under fire for issuing a letter prohibiting Muslim vendors from entering a weekly pola in Dankotuwa.
As the controversy heated up, the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna issued a statement distancing itself from the letter issued by the Wennappuwa PS Chairman saying it did not reflect the policies of the party.
"SLPP is a party that’s committed in protecting the rights of all communities in #SriLanka and firmly believes in one country, one law policy in which all communities can live in unity," the party said.
It is learnt that the party seniors have instructed the PS Chairman to issue a public apology over the controversial letter.
